What is Universal ( Universally )
Definition of Universal ( Universally ) in Construction
The term universal is used quite extensively in the construction industry. Basically the term is used to describe a condition that is universally accepted by the industry. The term is used in safety programs when the safety inspector will indicate that this procedure is the universally accepted procedure for fall protection, or electrical grounding, or any other element in construction that has a universal type of acceptance. Although there is no real specific definition of what the term universal does actually mean in the industry, it is a common term, and will always be used to indicate widely accepted or commonly used products, procedures, techniques, etc. The use of hardhats is a universal procedure on all jobsites. The issuance of a shop drawing, prior to ordering is a universally accepted practice.
