What is Temporary Certificate of Occupancy? (TCO)

In some instances, a municipality may issue a temporary certificate of occupancy to allow the occupancy of a space, even though there maybe various issues that have not been fully completed. In no case will a temporary certificate of occupancy be issued if there are any life safety issues pending. This type of certificate of occupancy will be issued if adjacent spaces are incomplete, there are pending small non-essential issues that need to be completed, or other smaller, non-life threatening issues. The TCO is presented, totally at the discretion of the municipality.
