What is a Stringer?
Definition: What Does the Term “Stringer” Mean?
Acceleration is a term that means additional work, within the same time period, as originally identified by the initial contract, prior to the additional work.
Basically a contractor cannot perform an increase in the scope of their work, without either additional time, or being compensated for acceleration costs. Acceleration involves several different parameters such as, overtime, additional manpower, increased equipment, expediting of materials, special transportation costs, additional supervision, additional home office expense, etc. Acceleration is costly and contractors should be compensated for accelerating a project and performing additional work within the same time period. If additional time is granted, then the daily costs incurred due to this additional time should also be compensated.
