What is Span ?
Definition of Span in Construction
The distance of an unsupported structural component between two supporting members. Span is used extensively in the construction process. This does not necessarily have to involve a structural component. This term could be used for the span of a cable wire, the span of an opening within a structure, the span of a bridge. The term is the distance between one point and the other.
