What is Soil Vapor Extraction?
Definition: What Does the Term “Soil Vapor Extraction” Mean?
A soil vapor extraction ( SVE ) system is a system that is installed in most cases, under a slab on grade ( concrete slab ). The intent is to remove or vent any gases that could build up under the slab due to contaminated material. In today’s era of ” urban fill “, there are many instances where a property has been contaminated by oil, or other types of contaminants.
The installation of a SVE system is designed to remove, or vent any gases from these contaminants, safely to the exterior. Normally the discharge of such a system is at the roof level of a structure.
