What is Soil Conditioning
Definition of Soil Conditioning in Construction
The term soil conditioning relates to the addition of fertilizer, nutrients, or other products to condition the soil for optimum use as a landscaping product. This conditioning is specified within the landscape specifications and will normally include the percentages of certain products that are required. In addition, the specifications will also identify the type of testing and the lab that will be required to test the soil, prior to acceptance for use, by the landscape architect. Soil conditioning is extremely important in difficult environmental exposures, such as intense sunlight or very short growing seasons. Soil conditioning has become an important aspect of properly landscaping a project and all parties, inclusive of the general contractor, must be educated in these types of techniques.
