Sash Opening (So)

What is a Sash Opening (So)?

Definition of Sash Opening (So) in Construction
The clear opening in the frame that the sashes will be installed into. Normally the sash opening does not include the tracks mounted on the jamb sides of the opening, but extends directly to the frame surface itself. The sash opening is an important dimension for maintenance and replacement sash purposes. In many cases, the breakage of a pane of glass will require a full replacement sash. Manufacturers have discovered that with insulated and highly energy saving requirements, the replacement of an insulated glass panel within the sash assembly in the field is never properly performed. Many manufacturers will simply send another full sash assembly in lieu of replacing just the glass, if the window is compromised. Therefore the actual sash opening or the ( SO ) is an important dimension.
