Definition of Sanitary Molding in Construction
Typically, a residential molding profile that is generally 3 1/2″ in width or smaller and has a smooth profile which is less involved than a typical colonial molding. The use of sanitary residential molding is common in spec homes or more economical commercial construction. The sanitary molding profile can be found at all popular material suppliers and is a very easy profile to miter and trim openings with. The sanitary molding is so named due to its simpler appearance and cleaner shape as compared to the very popular colonial molding. The sanitary molding presents a more even and smooth, uninterrupted look, and is usually painted and not stained or left unfinished.
