A resident engineer is normally an engineer or manager that is specifically assigned to a particular project, site, industrial or manufacturing facility. The resident engineer is always there on the site, and is normally involved in all of the projects that occur at their site. The position is a key position, at a specific construction site or facility, and is the primary contact for contractors, suppliers and vendors that have anything to do with construction at this location. In many instances, this resident engineer has been at the site since its inception, and is very well known in the industry.
