Punch Out

What is Punch Out?

Definition of Punch Out in Construction
Subcontractors and contractors will use this term to indicate the timing of their return to the project to complete their punchlist items.

To punch out a project can either be used to identify the actions of the architect, engineers and owner to create a list of punchlist items, or it can be used by the subs and contractors as an action word describing the process of completing the issued punchlist. The punch out, on a project, is in many cases the final aspect of a construction project. A successful punch out will ensure final payments and a good recommendation from the owner and architect. However delays or failure to satisfactorily complete the punchlist items will cause negative feelings and delayed final payments. Like the procurement schedule, the management of the punch out on a project is extremely important to the overall success of that project.
