What is a Pole Crank?
Definition of Pole Crank in Construction A wood, vinyl or aluminum pole, that is specifically designed to allow operation of a crank mechanism for a window that is out of comfortable reach. The same type of application can be used for large double hung windows to operate the upper sash. A pole crank allows access from the floor or from a area of safety and does not require that the operator or the individual attempting to open and close the door or window rely on an unsafe position to operate the unit. A pole crank will normally have a swivel head that allows the spinning of the pole at any angle to reduce the difficulty in positioning yourself to operate the pole crank.
