What is are Perennial Plantings
Definition of Perennial Plantings in Construction
The term perennial plantings is used in the landscaping and sitework portions of the construction project to refer to plants, trees, bushes, ground cover, etc. that bloom every season, without replanting. Perennial plants are the opposite of annual plants that only exist for the one season, and need to be replanted each growing season. Perennial plantings are recommended on the majority of commercial projects, due to the limited maintenance as well as the savings in labor required to replant the landscaping every growing season if annual plantings are specified. The landscape architect will specify the proper perennial plantings that are required on the project. In most instances, a professional landscaper will be hired as a subcontractor to provide the expertise and manpower required to comply with the landscape architects design.
