What is an Operation?

Definition of Operation in Construction
Term used to describe the operation of a door or window panel. Normally the designation of an X is used to indicate the operational unit and the designation O is used to mean the non-operational unit. When describing a window or door assembly these designations are described as you look at the window or door from the exterior of the structure. The operable panel is the panel that can be slid, hinged or moved. The operation of this movable panel must be coordinated to allow the proper clearances for a casement window or the proper position of a sliding window to allow maximum ventilation. The term operation is an important term in the construction industry and is extremely important when ordering windows and doors.
