Obscure Glass

What is an Obscure Glass?

Definition of Obscure Glass in Construction
Glass manufactured to obscure the visual ability to clearly see through the glass. This glass is used in areas requiring privacy or security. The term obscure glass can reference tinted glass, smoked glass and frosted glass. Any glass that clear visibility is not a characteristic of the glass can be described as obscure glass. Glass can be manufactured as obscure glass or it can be treated in the field to reduce the visibility through the glass. This type of treatment can present different degrees of obscurity. If a lot of light and illumination is required, then the degree of obscurity can be minimal, if the ability to block out the majority of the illumination is needed, then the degree of obscurity is increased. Architects and interior designers like the ability to offer varying degrees of obscure glass and its use can add an interesting element to any structure.
