Normally this term is used in reference to elevators that have a specific limit to their use and application, therefore they are LULA elevators ( limited use and limited applications) . They are normally slower than a standard elevator, and are limited to the height they can be used to service. The LULA is normally an elevator or lift that will comply with the handicap requirements, ADA ( American Disabilities Act ) for making the structure handicap compatible. In addition the LULA will be relatively inexpensive when compared to standard full use elevators. The LULA application will not be as fast or as strong as a normal elevator, but will fulfill the handicap obligations for a number of situations.
