What is a Loading Dock?
Definition: What Does the Term Loading Dock Mean?
A loading dock is a specially constructed dock that is designed to accept tractor trailers. In addition, the actual mechanical system can be determined as the loading dock that fits into a specific size opening in the edge of a loading dock structure. This mechanical loading dock is designed to accommodate the various truck floor levels and is purchased as a separate product for each specific requirement.
The loading dock can also have a canopy that seals the truck to the dock, dock bumpers that allow the trailer to back directly into the dock without damage, as well as specialized lights and video equipment.
