What is Krypton Gas?
Definition of Krypton Gas in Construction Inert gas, used to fill voids between panels of glass within an insulated glass assembly. The gas is used to increase the insulation factor and decrease the probability of condensation forming between the two or more panels of glass. Various manufacturers will use other types of gas depending upon the function of the glass as well as the designed parameters. Research and development has advanced the chemistry of the individual gases used to fill the voids between the panes of glass. The transmission of energy due to the sun’s rays as well as the solar gain of the glass are characteristics of the glass that can be modified with the correct amounts and type of gases used to fill the voids between the panes of glass. The application of various types of coatings on the glass as well as the insertion of various sheathing layers within the glass assembly all have influences on the performance of the glass.
