What is Horns and Strobes
Definition of Horns and Strobes in Construction
The term horns and strobes is a descriptive name for the fire and safety alarms that incorporate the sound awareness of a blaring horn, together with the visual alarm of a pulsating strobe light. In this manner anyone that is hearing impaired will be alerted via the strobe light, and any person with a visual limitation would be alerted by the sound of the horn. Horns and strobes are common with almost all fire and safety alarm systems, and are in many cases, included with the emergency lighting fixtures that are placed around the interior of the project. The location of the horn and strobe is mandated by the fire and building codes, as well as at the discretion of the local fire marshal.
