What is a Head-Bolt ?

Definition of Head-Bolt in Construction
Same function as the foot bolt, except the positioning is on the top of the door or window. This mechanism eliminates the movement of the door or glass panel. In many instances, used in conjunction with the foot bolt for security and stabilization purposes. The head bolt is not as easy to engage due to the positioning of the head bolt. The activation of the bolt can only be accomplished by pushing up on the bolt to engage the pin into a hole in the head of the door. The head bolt, like the foot bolt can be surface installed or can be designed to be embedded within the head of the door or window, Decorative head bolts are available to allow the hardware on a door panel to coordinate with all of the hardware in the home or structure.
