Guard Shack

What is a Guard Shack?

Definition of a Guard Shack in Construction

Guard shacks on a construction project could be temporary or permanent. In many larger or more important industrial projects, a guard shack is necessary to ensure that only approved construction workers are allowed onto the construction site. In some instances, a guard shack is temporarily installed at various entrances to a construction project, to ensure that union, verses non- union employees and contractors use the proper entry into the construction project. On some project, a permanent guard shack is included within the documents for the project. This guard shack could be required for several different requirements and must be carefully evaluated when bidding the project, due to the tendency to miss this construction responsibility by contractors. A guard shack can be as simple as a shed without heat, cooling or electricity, or as involved as a fully serviced small building, with its own mechanicals and electricals.
