What are Gondolas?
Definition of Gondolas in Construction
The shelving in a grocery or other type of store that is located, normally within the store itself, and installed in several rows.
These shelves are normally adjustable, dependent upon the type of material that is stored on the gondola. The installation of the proper number of gondolas as well as the sequencing of these systems is specific to the type of store as well as the product. Substantial coordination and organization is required to properly install these gondolas to accommodate the proper merchandise to be displayed on the shelves themselves. In some instances, the gondolas have electric power that will activate lighting and power outlets for special displays. This electrical must be coordinated with the electrical contractor on the project to ensure that power is run to the proper gondolas to provide the services as required by the displays.
