What is a Glider ?
Definition of Glider in Construction Similar to the slider, a window or door panel that slides along an upper and lower track assembly. Normally the glider assembly involves one sliding unit and one stationary unit. The designation of the operable glider is generally noted as an X type and the non operational glider noted with an O designation. Gliders can be specialty windows such as service windows for an exterior drive-in accommodation at a restaurant or a specialty bank teller window. The glider is in most instances a smaller type window than the typical slider, however, both terms are used to identify similar functioning windows, doors, panels, etc.
