French Or Open Casement

What is a French Or Open Casement?

Definition of French Or Open Casement in Construction
Double window unit, that swings out with hinges on the sides of the frame, to present an unobstructed full window opening. No middle astragal or framing piece is used, identifying the double casement as a French unit. Any time in construction that two opposing elements are opened or closed together without the existence of a center structural piece or a cover assembly, the term French may be included within the description or used to identify the method. A French door is a door without a center support or any center interference, the same conditions are applied to a casement window. No center support, it may be referenced as a French type unit.
