Floor Mounted

What is Floor Mounted

Definition of Floor Mounted in Construction

Any piece of equipment, furniture or other item that is mounted, or attached to the floor. The attachment to the floor is an easier installation on a construction project, than a wall or ceiling mount, due to the ability of the item to exert its weight directly in the vertical vector, or downward. The only real attachment for a floor mounted element is to ensure that, if there is a tipping force or a lateral force, the attachment to the floor is adequate to sustain stability due to these forces. Many floor mounted installations are achieved with epoxy resins or expansion bolts that are embedded into the floor.
