Flex connector

What is Flex Connector?

Definition of Flex Connector in Construction
A connector that allows flexible movement within the connection .

For example, if a vessel reactor within a chemical or industrial application must be connected to hoses, pipes, conduits, etc., and this vessel’s operation incurs substantial vibration or movement, all the connections to the vessel, must be flexible connections. The flexible connection allows movement within the hard connections without failure of the joints, hoses, pipes, conduits, etc. There are several different types of flex connectors, especially in industrial applications. The engineering of flexible connectors is important to the longevity of the equipment as well as the integrity of the joints. Constant vibrations and movement will eventually cause any rigid connection to fail. The development of flex connectors, consisting of resilient materials and constructed in a manner to accept the vibrations, without deterioration within the joint, has allowed industrial and manufacturing equipment to advance. Flexible connectors are in many instances developed with rubberized components, reinforced with stainless steel fibers or strands. In addition , they flexible connectors are in many cases covered with a coiled layer of stainless steel that will protect the interior flexible material within the connection itself.
