What is Egress Windows
Definition of Egress Windows in Construction
An egress window is a window that is properly designed to allow exiting from a specific area within a project. In many cases, the egress windows in residential construction are located within the bedrooms or bathrooms that are remote from the main exiting of the home. The egress window concept is not as commonly used in commercial construction. Normally the egress out of a commercial structure is accomplished by egress corridors and stairways. The egress window size is mandated by the building and fire safety codes, and must comply with these size and function requirements, to allow the window to be labeled as an egress window.
