Definition of Door Closer in Construction Door closer is a mechanism normally mounted at the head of the door and attached to the head of the jamb and the head of the door.
The actual mechanism that activates the functioning of the door is mounted directly on the top of the door. The end of the activation arm of the closer is mounted on the door jamb.
In some instances the actual door closer is through bolted through the door to eliminate the possibility to pull out of the door. The door closure will have a tremendous amount of pressure applied on the mechanism and the arm during the operation of the door and must be installed very securely. A door closer is usually an adjustable element that will be adjusted to accommodate the weight of the door and the actual location of the door.
