Crickets

What are Crickets?

Definition of Crickets in Construction

A cricket is a built up area on a roof or other drainable surface, that will force the water from accumulating in difficult draining areas of the roof or other draining surface. A cricket is normally built up of tapered roof insulation prior to the actual application of the waterproofing membrane. Crickets can be designed anywhere on the drainable surface and must be specifically located to drain those areas that are susceptible to water buildup. A cricket is normally installed by the roofing contractor and will shed water from areas that could possibly puddle instead of drain.
