What is CO ( clean out ) ?
Definition of CO ( clean out ) in Construction A clean out is a fitting that is used in a piping system to allow access to the interior of the piping system. This clean out is a removable cover that will enable the use of cleaning equipment such as a plumbing snake or washing wand to clean the pipe of an obstruction. The clean outs are normally placed at all intersections or direction changes in the piping system. If the system appears to have any possibility of clogging at a certain location the installation of a clean out is recommended. The proper placement of clean outs is very important to the proper functioning of the piping system. The mechanical engineer will indicate where in the line they would prefer to locate the cleanouts. However an experienced site contractor as well as plumber will use their own expertise and experience to determine where these cleanouts should be placed.
