What is Closed cell?
Definition of Closed cell in Construction Descriptive term used in construction for any material that has a closed cell assembly. For example, spray foam is available in an open or closed cell material. The closed cell material will not absorb water and does not require a vapor barrier. However, the closed cell material does not expand and provide the depth of actual insulation, that an open cell material will provide. Many materials can be described with an open or closed cell status, if it is made up of material that consists of multiple cells of a product linked together. Closed is simply that, the cell is not open, it is closed and will not absorb liquids and is denser than an open system.
