What is Cladding ?

Definition of Cladding in Construction
Any material that is applied to the surface of another material, to provide durability, architectural design, solar gain or protection, or any other decorative or functional reason. Aluminum and vinyl cladding are very common materials that are used in window manufacturing, to protect the sub-base material which is normally a wood product. Cladding is a very common term and can be used to describe almost any material, applied as a covering over another material in general construction. The term clad is used to even describe shielding, armor protection, moisture protection or almost any other type of covering over a primary building material. To clad is a term that means to apply a cladding over another material.
