Definition of Bell Tower in Construction This is an old fashion term that used to always reference the tower above a structure that housed a bell, therefore the bell tower. In popular architecture and with the designs of projects having turrets and higher sections rising over the main roof elevations, the term bell tower could be used to identify any type of structure that rises higher than the adjacent roofs. Like the term, basement, the use of bell tower can simply mean the highest portion of the project or it can actually be meant for the enclosure of a bell. The term, if used on a project, should be clearly and accurately described and understood, prior to the start of the project.
