What is an Active Panel?
Definition of Active Panel in Construction The panel or sash, that operates by sliding or swinging, on a window or door unit. Normally the active panel is identified with an X on the documents as opposed to the designation of O for the non operable panels. The active panel is also the panel that will normally have the latching mechanism installed with the non-operable panel having the strike. Active is the normal construction designation for any operable door, panel, sash or other construction element that functions by sliding, swinging, tilting, etc.
