What is a Core Bore?
Definition: What Does the Term Core Bore Mean?
The term core bore can be used to describe any type of drilling operation that results in the extraction of a core upon completion of the drilling. The drill used to create a core bore is a hole saw that is basically a hollow circle with cutting teeth. The core boring operation is the insertion of this cutting circle into the material that is being drilled with a power drill or other means of pushing this cutting bit into the material.
The core bore can be almost any size, depending on the diameter of the cutting bit or the cutting circle. Once the material is bored, a resultant core is removed to form the actual hole in the drilled material.
